Media Release on Constitutional Amendments to declare PNG a 'Christan Country'

The Catholic Bishops Conference of PNG and Solomon Islands issued a statement in May 2024 to address the Bill seeking Constitutional Amendments to declare Papua New Guinea as a Christian Country. The Bishops stated three primary reasons for their opposition to the move: poorly written amendments, inclination towards a Jewish rather than Christian Vision, and conversion to a confessional and religious state. Media Release on Youth Unemployment

Caritas PNG marked World Social Justice Day by holding a press conference to highlight the issue of youth unemployment, which is linked to incidents of social instability around the country, including the ongoing tribal fighting in the Highlands Region and the recent looting in Port Moresby. In the statement, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wabag and Caritas Bishop Deputy, Bishop Justin Ain Soongie, calls on the government Churches and private sector to unite to address this growing problem. On 4 October 2022 local communities in New Ireland Province discovered that a new joint venture company has bought off Nautilus Minerals assets. These joint venture companies Deep Sea Mining Finance and Sustainable Mining Solutions have been pushing decision-makers in Papua New Guinea to open the

Media Release on Voter Education Campaign

Caritas PNG believes that women and youths can only vote for good representatives if they know their rights and responsibilities, the value of their votes and are also given the opportunity to vote without fear or favour.
